A/Prof John Tam Kit Chung is the Senior Consultant and founding Head of Thoracic Surgery at the National University Heart Centre, Singapore, and an Associate Professor of Surgery at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He received his medical training in Canada, earning both his MD and FRCSC, along with master’s degrees in Education and Science. An early pioneer of Uniportal Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (UVATS), he performed his first UVATS lobectomy in 2009. Dr. Tam champions enhanced recovery and opioid-free pain management, leading a skilled team focused on improving patient outcomes and training future thoracic surgeons in Singapore and across Asia.
