    Dr Paul Ong is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital who specialises in interventional cardiology. He pioneered the use of the trans-radial approach in coronary angioplasty and introduced advanced techniques like renal denervation, intravascular lithotripsy, and the Impella heart pump in the Asia-Pacific. He also became the first cardiologist in Southeast Asia to perform robotic-assisted angioplasty. After 23 years in the UK, he moved to Singapore in 2009 and led the interventional cardiology service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He actively trains cardiologists across Southeast Asia and helped establish Myanmar’s heart attack angioplasty programme.
