Dr Tan Yia Swam is a general surgeon (with a special interest in breast surgery) in Singapore. She is the Director of Breast Friend Surgery & Wellness, a one-stop breast centre for consultation, imaging, biopsies and surgery.

Dr Tan’s dedicated all-female team of healthcare professionals provides fast and reliable diagnosis. She finds that while many of her patients see her for a breast complaint, frequently the initial breast complaints turn out to be symptoms of a more complex systemic problem.

Medical Expertise

Dr Tan Yia Swam subspecialises in minimally invasive breast surgery, ultrasound-guided biopsy of breast lumps, aspiration of breastfeeding abscesses, and surgery for breast cancer (e.g. breast conservation surgery, skin-sparing/nipple-sparing mastectomy, and sentinel lymph node biopsy).

Dr Tan is experienced in breast conditions such as lumps, pain, nipple discharge, cancers, and also abnormal imaging.

MBBS, MRCS, MMed (Surg), FRCS, FAMS 

• Obtained medical degree from National University of Singapore
• Surgical training at Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital and Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
• Post-graduate qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
• Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
• She was a consultant with KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital Department of Breast Surgery prior to private practice.
