Dr Paul Ong is a cardiologist at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital who specialises in interventional cardiology. He pioneered the use of the trans-radial approach in coronary angioplasty and introduced advanced techniques like renal denervation, intravascular lithotripsy, and the Impella heart pump in the Asia-Pacific. He also became the first cardiologist in Southeast Asia to perform robotic-assisted angioplasty. After 23 years in the UK, he moved to Singapore in 2009 and led the interventional cardiology service at Tan Tock Seng Hospital.
