Dr Shim Hang Hock earned his Bachelor of Medicine (BM) from the University of Southampton, United Kingdom, and later received accreditation as a specialist in gastroenterology from the Specialist Accreditation Board, Singapore. In 2016, the Ministry of Health awarded him the Healthcare Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) scholarship to pursue advanced fellowship training in Calgary, Canada—home to one of the world’s largest Inflammatory Bowel Disease units. Dr Shim specialises in gastroenterology, with a subspecialty focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease) and digestive cancer screening.
