Dr Leo Hamilton
Dr Leo Hamilton is a U.S.-trained Pediatrician and Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist with more than two decades of clinical experience across the United States and Singapore.
He completed his undergraduate studies in History and Religion at Auburn University before earning his medical degree from the University of Alabama in 2000. His professional training includes a residency at Maine Medical Centre and a Fellowship at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, completed in 2006. He became US board-certified in Pediatrics in 2003 and later in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology in 2006. Prior to moving to Singapore in 2011, Dr Leo practiced extensively in private paediatric hematology/oncology settings in the U.S.
In Singapore, he continues to provide comprehensive paediatric care for newborns through adolescents. Beyond his Hematology/Oncology expertise, his clinical interests include asthma, ADHD and other behavioural concerns, adolescent health, and the evidence-based management of common childhood conditions such as otitis media, bronchiolitis, and pneumonia.
Dr Leo is committed to modern, evidence-driven paediatric medicine that emphasises minimal intervention. His training reinforced how quickly paediatric knowledge evolves, shaping his principle of continually adapting clinical practice to current evidence. Over the years, he has refined many aspects of care, recognising, for example, that most middle ear infections and pneumonias resolve without antibiotics, bronchiolitis often requires no treatment, cough and cold medications rarely shorten illness duration, and infants older than one month typically do not need hospitalisation for fevers. He also supports early, safe introduction of solids, including eggs, nuts, and shellfish, from four months.
He believes most children require few or no medications and works collaboratively with parents to determine when treatment, testing, or hospital care is truly necessary. Building strong relationships with families, children, and teens is central to his patient-centred approach.
